Golf Tips

Save 100 US$ on putting lessons this month by following my putting drill:

Target is to break 36 putts per round-ready?
Rory's & Speiths average putts per round last year was under 30!

1. Clean your putter, get a pro to check the length and regrip it.

2. Go to the practice green and hit 50 balls every day this month about an hour before your tee off time.

3. Check your set up. Drop the ball vertically from your left eye onto the ground - that is your starting point just inside your left toe area.

4. Line up the put to the center of the hole from a putters length away.

5. Place a coin behind the ball and set up and focus on the coin. Do not move your head!!

6. Close your eyes and hit the ball and listen for it to drop.

7. Try this drill from the 4 points of the compass around the hole and hit 10 balls from each point.

8. Hit the remaining 10 balls from your chosen location. Drill done!

9. Mark your game balls for the line up prior to going on the courses and feel confident you are going to save shots today!

10. When about to play a putt in your game, walk around the hole, look at the contours from your ball location - clean the ball - set a routine for every putt. Judge the pace!

Do that for a month and you will save at least 5 shots per round.

Think about this if your target is breaking 80 in your game.

36 shots + will be with your putter and perhaps 6 wedge shots - so half the round is your short game.

My MANTRA : PRACTICE the short game.

Next tip is about chipping into the hole area from 25 paces off the green with your favourite wedge. So get it regripped and prepare for the next drill.

Keep me informed.
I can offer broader reading and more drills for your shot save every week!
Cheers George

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Can you break 36 putts in your game?
If you want to break 90 in your game, stats are roughly:
36 putts
15 drivers
18 PW
21 other shots
so you should be trying to reduce your putting average.
